Essentially, it is an app that outputs tweets to Growl for Windows. It’s a very simple display; and because it lets you customize the types of tweets you see, it keeps you updated on only the tweets you care about.

The current beta versions include the following functionality:
* oAuth Authentication Connect to Twitter without giving up your username and password.
* Easy Access System tray icon quickly lets you create a new tweet, change settings, silence Trowl, or exit.
* Full Control Ability to choose which users should have their tweets Growled. In addition, you can choose whether ALL replies and/or DMs get growled.
* Fits your Schedule Ability to specify how often Trowl should check for new tweets.
* Simplicity Designed to be as easy to use as possible. For example, if you paste a URL into the New Tweet box, it automatically gets shortened by is.gd. If you use TwitterDisplay as well, you can reply, retweet, or DM directly from it!
* Forwarding Flexibility If you forward tweets to your phone, but decide you want to hault them temporarily, no problem! Trowl watches for specially-formatted DMs to yourself, and follows your orders!

We’ve all been there: two of your friends start an argument, or someone is at an event and they need to tweet everything back, or going phone-picture-crazy. Whatever the reason, they seem to be all over your timeline, jumping at your screen.

Not to mention that if you do it manually and unfollow the -temporarily- loud twitterers, you risk forgetting to follow them back again.
