pu.ly is a simple email-to-twitter and back again system.

To be a little more specific, Pu.ly automatically monitors Twitter (about once every couple of minutes) for mentions of you, direct messages to you, and names of Twitter lists you are added to.

When any of these monitored actions occur, puly immediately sends you an email with the details. You can then simply click the reply button from your email client and send a response that gets published back to Twitter.

Once you’ve set up your pu.ly account, you can also send email to twitter at pu.ly any time and the body of your email will pass directly through to Twitter.

Essentially, it is an app that outputs tweets to Growl for Windows. It’s a very simple display; and because it lets you customize the types of tweets you see, it keeps you updated on only the tweets you care about.

The current beta versions include the following functionality:
* oAuth Authentication Connect to Twitter without giving up your username and password.
* Easy Access System tray icon quickly lets you create a new tweet, change settings, silence Trowl, or exit.
* Full Control Ability to choose which users should have their tweets Growled. In addition, you can choose whether ALL replies and/or DMs get growled.
* Fits your Schedule Ability to specify how often Trowl should check for new tweets.
* Simplicity Designed to be as easy to use as possible. For example, if you paste a URL into the New Tweet box, it automatically gets shortened by is.gd. If you use TwitterDisplay as well, you can reply, retweet, or DM directly from it!
* Forwarding Flexibility If you forward tweets to your phone, but decide you want to hault them temporarily, no problem! Trowl watches for specially-formatted DMs to yourself, and follows your orders!
